The Douro in autumn: why the vintage is the trip
There is a particular light in the Douro at the close of summer, when the terraces turn the colour of old gold and the river slows to a walk. It is our favourite time to send travellers north.
When the valley works as one
During the vindima, the quintas open in a way they never quite do otherwise. Baskets come down the terraces, grapes are still trodden by foot in a handful of houses, and dinner happens late, under the stars, with the pickers.
We keep a small number of dates each September for exactly this, and they go early.
If autumn is calling, start a conversation and we will shape something around you.
