Private Sintra Day Trip from Lisbon
One day, two worlds: the old quarters of Lisbon in the morning, the palaces and forests of Sintra by afternoon. Privately, at your pace.
Some days are worth slowing down for. You begin in Lisbon's oldest streets (the tangle of Alfama, the grand squares of the Baixa), then climb into Sintra, where the Pena Palace rises in impossible colour above the Atlantic forest.
A day drawn around the highlights
Lisbon's old heart
Rossio and the Baixa, the lanes of Alfama and Bairro Alto, and the great miradouros. With a guide who knows where to pause.
The Pena Palace
Sintra's most beloved landmark, a romantic palace of yellows and reds crowning the wooded hills.
The Sintra-Cascais park
The scenic mountain road and the green, mist-touched natural park that surrounds the town.
A glass of ginjinha
A pause for Lisbon's beloved sour-cherry liqueur, poured from a hole-in-the-wall in the old town: a small, very local ritual.
Everything taken care of
In every private departure

Private, by the car
One price for your whole party, not per person. Choose the car that suits you; your guide and the day are the same.
Monument and palace entrance tickets are not included, nor are meals. We'll recommend which sites are worth your time and can pre-book tickets on your behalf so you skip the queues.
Questions, answered
How long is the day?
About 7 hours, door to door, with pick-up and drop-off at your Lisbon hotel. Unhurried by design. There is time to wander, not just to tick off sights.
Is a private tour really worth it?
Sintra rewards anyone who would rather not wrestle with the train, the 434 tourist bus and the timed-ticket queues. Your guide and driver carry the logistics so the day belongs to you. And the pace bends to your party, not a group of strangers.
Are entrance tickets included?
No. Monument and palace entrance tickets, and meals, are not included. Pena Palace tickets sell out days ahead in high season, so we pre-book them on your behalf and time your arrival to skip the worst of the queues.
What will we actually see?
Lisbon's old heart in the morning (Rossio, the Baixa, the lanes of Alfama and Bairro Alto, the great miradouros), then the Pena Palace and the historic centre of Sintra in the afternoon.
What should we bring?
Comfortable shoes for cobblestones and inclines, and a light layer: Sintra has its own microclimate and runs cooler and mistier than Lisbon, even in summer.
Can you take a larger group?
Yes, for larger groups we arrange a private coach with your guide. Tell us your numbers and we'll tailor it.
