Óbidos, Nazaré & Fátima Day Trip
Three of Portugal's most storied towns in a day: a walled medieval village, a fishing town of giant waves, and the choice of a great monastery or a place of pilgrimage.
North of Lisbon, the country turns medieval. You pass through the walled town of Óbidos, follow the coast down to Nazaré for lunch by the sea, and then the day is yours to choose: the soaring Gothic monastery of Batalha, or the great pilgrimage sanctuary of Fátima.
A day drawn around the highlights
Óbidos, the walled town
Whitewashed houses, cobbled lanes and a hilltop castle. And a ginjinha served in a little cup of chocolate.
Nazaré by the sea
Lunch in the fishing town that the world now knows for its giant winter waves.
Batalha or Fátima
The choice is yours: the UNESCO-listed Gothic monastery of Batalha, or the pilgrimage sanctuary of Fátima.
The coast & the countryside
Atlantic views and rolling country roads between the towns, at an unhurried pace.

Questions, answered
How long is the day?
About 7 hours, door to door, with pick-up and drop-off at your Lisbon hotel. There is some driving between the towns. It is a full, rewarding day.
Batalha or Fátima, both?
The day is built comfortably around one of the two. Tell us which calls to you and we'll shape the route accordingly; if you'd like to attempt both, we'll talk through the timing honestly.
Are the visits guided?
Your guide drives you, sets the scene and brings each town to life. The interiors of Batalha and Fátima are then explored at your own pace.
Is it a religious tour?
Fátima is one of the world's great pilgrimage sites, so the day suits pilgrims. But equally those drawn to medieval Óbidos, the Gothic of Batalha and the Atlantic coast.
